Carol Swinney’s painting “Streams of Morning Light” has been juried into the Oil Painters of America 19th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils being held at the prestigious Legacy Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held Friday April 30th in the gallery beginning at 5:00pm. Carol will also be doing a demo on Sunday, May 2nd from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Scottsdale Artists School in conjunction with the event.
Carol has also been juried into the 7th Annual Telluride Plein Air 2010, held June 28th to July 4th at the historic Sheridan Arts Foundation in Telluride, Colorado. The Quick Draw Competition and Artist Choice Wine Reception and Auction will be held on Friday, July 2nd at the Opera House.
The upcoming book “Painting Impressionist Color” by Lois Griffel will be including four of Carol’s landscape paintings. The book will be available in the spring of 2010.
Carol was just invited to be one of the first signature members of Tucson Plein Air Painters, a group of outdoor landscape painters with members from Arizona and several surrounding states.
Carol’s painting “Snowbreak” was selected for inclusion in the 2010 Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition at the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne. The exhibition opens May 8th and closes June 5th. The evening reception will be held May 21st from 5:00 to 7:00.
Finally, Gallery 822 in Santa Fe New Mexico is now representing Carol’s work beginning in March, 2010. This new gallery showcases both representational and contemporary paintings and sculpture and is owned by the well known sculptor, Joshua Tobey. The gallery will be holding an annual Anniversary Show with a Collectors’ Preview night on May 7th and the public reception on Friday, May 8th beginning at 5:00pm. Carol Swinney’s painting “Evening Meadows,” an 8 x 16” oil painting won 2nd Place at the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society Annual All Members Juried Show 2009. The show is hosted by the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, Tucson, Arizona and will hang until January 4th, 2010.
Carol has been accepted into “The Russell, The Sale to Benefit the C.M. Russell Museum” scheduled for March 18th through the 20th, 2010 at the Museum. This event is being held during Western Art Week in Great Falls, Montana with a Quick Draw / Quick Finish event and Art Auction held during this time.
Southwest Art Magazine will be including Carol in a feature article in the January, 2010 issue due on newsstands about the 20th of December, 2009. The article will be highlighting her unique style of palette knife painting and the artists that influenced her along with6 to 8 images of her recent work.
By special invitation, Carol has been invited to become a “Master” Signature Member of American Women Artists (AWA) beginning with the year 2010. She will be among a small group of Signature Members and Master Signature Members, an elite group of women painters and sculptors from across the nation. AWA’s mission is inspiring, celebrating and encouraging women in the visual arts through the annual juried competition, bi-annual museum shows and associated educational activities. Carol Swinney’s painting “Grasses Along the Banks” a 12” x 12” oil, won top honors at the “2nd Annual Wyoming Plein Air 2009” show. The show was hosted by the Link Gallery and Deselms Fine Art in Cheyenne, Wyoming from August 1st to September 30th.
For her third year, Carol has been invited to participate in the 2010 “Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Half of the West” show. The show will be held March 25th through May 2nd at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona. This is the 5th year for this important exhibition for western women artists including 56 prominent painters and sculptors.
Carol has been selected, for the 2nd year, for inclusion in “American Art in Miniature 2009” exhibition and sale. This event will be held at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma from October 24th through November 8th with the opening reception and sale on November 5th.

Carol Swinney’s painting “Morning Along the Wash,” an 18” x 14” oil, won an Award of Excellence at the 2009 “Nomadas Del Arte” Show and Sale held April 1st through the 30th at Southwest Gallery in Dallas Texas. She also sold both of her paintings at the April 3rd opening night and had the honor of being one of six featured artists at the event.
For the second year, Carol participated in the 2009 “Cowgirl up! Art From the Other Half of the West” show, held March 27th through May 3rd at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona. This show has become one of the most important exhibitions for western women artists in the country. Carol sold two of her three paintings on opening night as well as her quick draw.
Carol is one of seven invited artists for the Outdoor Painters Society’s “Plein Air Southwest 2009” event being held at Southwest Gallery in Dallas, Texas. The show and reception will be held December 4th and 5th with a dinner, reception and awards ceremony including a $5000 Purchase Award. The show’s four plein air locations include areas of Texas, Colorado and Arizona.
Finally, one of Carol’s paintings has been accepted into the California Art Club’s 98th Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition, held at the Pasadena Museum of California Art from April 26th to May 17th. The Artist’s Gala Reception will be hosted Saturday, April 25th with the preview of almost 300 paintings and sculpture by some of the foremost representational artists in the country.

Carol Swinney’s painting “Cool Oasis,” a 20” x 16” oil won an Award of Excellence at the Oil Painters of America’s “2008 Western Regional Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils.” The event was held at Devin Galleries in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on September 12th 2008. The show hangs until October 11th.
She was invited to her third “Western Visions Miniatures and More 2008” show and sale. The event was held September 15th through the 19th at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY. The final gala sale was held September 19th.
Carol has also been selected for inclusion in American Art in Miniature 2008 exhibition and sale. The event will be held Thursday evening, November 6th at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK.
Finally, the National Western Art Foundation at the Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas has invited Carol to participate in the “The Night of Artists 2009.” The primary show will be Friday March 6th from 5:00 to 9:30pm before the drawing and dinner on Saturday, March 7th, 2009.

Carol Swinney’s painting “Mountain Lupine,” a 12” x 12” oil was the top selling painting at the Cowgirl Up! Art From the Other Half of the West 2008, Third Annual Exhibition and Sale. The event was held at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona. She also sold two paintings during the Opening Night Gala on Saturday, March 29th.
Carol has been accepted into the 5th Annual Telluride Plein Air competition held in Telluride, Colorado. The event will be held June 29th through July 5th, 2008 with the Quick Draw beginning at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 3rd and the Artist’s Choice Cocktail Party held from 6:00 to 8:00 that evening at the Sheridan Opera House Gallery Room. The two day sale will be held in Elks Park on Friday and Saturday, July 4th & 5th from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
One of Carol’s paintings has been accepted into the California Art Club’s 97th Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition, held at the Pasadena Museum of California Art with an evening Gala Reception on Saturday, April 26th from 4:00 to 6:00pm. The exhibit hangs until May 18th 2008.
Finally, Carol has just been accepted into the 2008 Napa Valley Art Festival Juried Exhibition and Sale to be held on May 31st, 2008 at the Gardens of Copia in Napa, California. The proceeds of the sale will benefit The Land Trust of Napa County’s Connolly Ranch Education Center.

Carol Swinney’s painting “Mountain Meadows” won the Collectors Purchase Award at the 2007 Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters National Show held July 29th through August 5th. The reception and sale were held at Elk Horn Art Gallery in Winter Park, Colorado. The exhibition runs through September 4th, 2007.
Carol has been invited to participate in the Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Half of the West 2008, Third Annual Exhibition and Sale to be held at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona. The show will be held March 27th through May 4th, 2008 with the opening night planned for Saturday, March 29th and the Artist’s Patron’s Party held Friday, March 28th. There will be a Quick Draw on Sunday morning, March 30th held at the museum.

Carol Swinney’s painting “Along Pontatoc Ridge,” a 12 x 24 oil, just won “Jury’s Top 50” award at the 2007 Salon International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art, exhibition and sale. The show was hosted by Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art in San Antonio, Texas May 19th through June 15th, 2007.
She will also be participating in the 2007 Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters annual plein air competition held in Winter Park, Colorado, from July 28th through August 4th, 2007. The exhibit and sale will be held at Elkhorn Gallery in Winter Park, Colorado, with the gala dinner and preliminary sale on August 2nd. The opening sale, awards ceremony and artists reception will be held the evening of August 3rd and the Quick Draw and silent auction are scheduled for Saturday morning, August 4th.

Carol Swinney’s painting “Desert Blooms” was awarded "Best Quick Draw" at the 1st Annual Marana Arts Council Plein Air Festival held in Tucson, AZ, March 28 through April 1st, 2007. The Quick Draw auction, sale and gala reception were held at the new, exclusive Saguaro Ranch Resort located in the Tortolita Mountains NW of Tucson, AZ.
Carol has been accepted into the 14th annual Carmel Arts Festival held in Carmel, CA from May 17th through 20th, 2007. The awards ceremony will be held Saturday, May 19th at 5:00 pm. on Mission between Ocean Ave. and 6th Street. The Quick Draw and sale is on Sunday, May 20th.
International Artist Magazine will have a feature article about Carol in the 2007 June/ July Issue (#55). The article will have an extensive demo and full description of her palette knife painting techniques, supplies she uses, along with creative thoughts and advice for the reader.
Carol will also be painting at the 4th Annual Telluride Plein Air Competition held in beautiful Telluride, CO. Carol Swinney's painting; "Palm Canyon Morning" just received 2nd Place at the Borrego Springs Plein Air Invitational 2007 in Borrego Springs, California. The reception and awards ceremony was held Friday, March 16th at the Borrego Art Institute with Jean Stern, Executive Director of the Irvine Museum, as the awarding judge.
Carol has been invited to several plein air events for 2007 including: Plein Air Texas 2007 to be held April 21st through May 20th, hosted by Southwest Gallery in Dallas, Texas; The 14th Annual Carmel Art Festival, to be held May 17th through the 20th in Carmel, California and The 4th Annual Telluride Plein Air 2007 to be held June 28th through July 4th in Telluride, Colorado.
Two of Carol’s paintings were accepted into the International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art Salon International 2007. Carol Swinney's painting; "Nature’s Essence" just received "Collector's Choice Award" at the 2nd Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival held October 21st through the 29th, 2006 in Sedona, Arizona. The reception and awards ceremony was held Saturday October 28th at the Sedona Arts Center and included 27 invited plein air painters from around the US.
Carol was just selected as one of four new Signature Members of American Woman Artists (AWA). This exclusive group of contemporary women artists encourages promotional and educational opportunities for women in the visual artists.
The Tucson Plein Air Painters will include two of Carol's paintings in their annual Artist Member show to be held November 9th through January 31, 2007. The reception will be held Thursday, November 9th at the Northern Trust Bank in Tucson, Arizona. She will also be included in this year's Mountain Oyster Club show to be held November 17th, 2006 through January 6th, 2006, in Tucson.

Carol Swinney received “Best in Show” at the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters (RMPAP) 5th Annual National show held July 29th through August 6th, 2006 in Winter Park, Colorado. Her painting “View From the Top”, an 11 xz 14 oil was chosen by judge Susan McGarry.
Carol also won “People’s Choice” award for her painting “Aspens and Daisies” at the 3rd Annual RMPAP Signature Member and Invited Guest Show held July 1st through the 8th in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
Carol has been invited to participate in the 2nd Annual “Miniatures in the Mountains” Invitational Show at El Presidio Gallery in Ruidoso, New Mexico. The show will be held the 6th through the 8th of October, 2006 with the reception being held the evening of October 7th.

Carol Swinney recently received 3rd Place for her painting “Reflections” at the 2006 Laguna Plein Air Painters Association Annual Artist Members Juried Exhibition held May 6th through June 6th at the LAPA Studio in Laguna Beach, California. The juror and judge for the exhibition was Tyler Stallings, Chief Curator of the Laguna Art Museum.
Carol also received an “Honorable Mention” for her painting “Iceplant in P6” at the 13th Annual Carmel Arts Festival held in Carmel, California on May 18th and 19th, 2006. The Reception and Awards Ceremony was held Saturday May 20th at Devendorf Park in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
The Cultural Times, July 2006 issue featured Carol’s painting “Caliente Magic” on their cover along with an article on pages 10 and 11 titled “On the Road Again.”

Carol Swinney’s painting “Below Chasm Falls” won Best in Show at the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters “Fall Colors 2005” plein air competition. The awarding judge was Albert Handell, Master Artist, Oil Painters of America. The reception was held September 24th, 2005 at Snowfire Gallery in Estes Park, Colorado.
Two of Carol’s paintings have been accepted into the 2005 Central Regional Exhibition of Oil Painters of America held at Snowfire Gallery in Estes Park, Colorado. The show hangs from October 1st through October 31st, 2005 with a reception held on October 1stat the gallery.
The California Art Club has accepted Carol’s painting “Essence of Fall” into their 95th Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition. The show will be held at the Pasadena Museum of California Art from April 2nd through April 23rd, 2006. A gala reception will be
held on Saturday, April 1st at the museum.
Carol is one of 12 women plein air artists included in “Canyon de Chelly en plein air” November 4th through December 16th, 2005. The show hangs at Eric Firestone Gallery in Tucson, Arizona. There will be a reception held Friday, November 4th from 5:00 until 9:00pm at the gallery. The exhibit will showcase plein air work done during a four day trip into the canyon this past June along with larger studio pieces by each artist.

Carol Swinney’s oil painting “Reflections of Orange & Gold” just received the Best Landscape Award at the 14th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils. The event was showcased at Hilligoss Galleries in Chicago, Illinois from May 5th through June 19th, 2005.
Carol has also been invited to participate in Maynard Dixon Country 2005, as a guest artist. The event runs from August 24th through the 28th of 2005, at the historic Maynard Dixon home and studio in Mt. Carmel, Utah. She will be painting “in plein air” with other guest artists and will exhibit two of these paintings along with 39 invited artists at the “Wet painting sale” on Saturday, August 27th from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
On September 1st through the 4th, 2005, Carol and John Potter will have a 2 person show at Galleries West located at 70 South Glenwood in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The reception will be held on Saturday the 3rd from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Carol Swinney is one of eleven women artists to be invited to paint in Canyon de Chelly June 21st to the 24th, 2005. The trip is being sponsored by Eric Firestone Gallery of Tucson, Arizona. There will be a late fall reception and month long exhibit at the gallery.
Carol has also been invited to participate in the Second Annual Telluride Plein Air 2005 held June 27th to July 4th at the historic Sheridan Opera House in Telluride, Colorado. Thirty artists will paint during the week with the gala dinner and artist’s choice preview held on July 2nd. The exhibition and sale will be July 3rd and 4th on the Opera House lawn.
Portnoy Galleries of Carmel, California will be representing her work as of June 2005. Carol will be the featured artist at Portnoy Galleries 14th Anniversary Show held at the Gallery from July 14th to the 17th, 2005. She will be demonstrating in the gallery each day from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at 6th avenue between Dolores and San Carlos. Carol Swinney’s painting “Ducks & Reeds” was recently awarded “People’s Choice” at the 2005 Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painter’s Annual Signature and Invited Artist Show. The reception and awards announcement was held Saturday, February 19th at the La Mariposa Resort in Tuscon, Arizona.
She also just received acceptance into the 12th Annual Carmel Arts Festival being held May 12th to the 15th, 2005 at Gallery Elite in Carmel, California. The Reception and Awards Gala will be held on Friday, May 13th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Each artist will submit one plein air and one previously completed painting for the awards judging and sale.

In March 2004 Carol Swinney won a “Gallery Show Award” at the Western Spirit Art Show and Sale at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum in Cheyenne WY. She will be one of five artists at a month-long showing in the museum, December 3rd, 2004 to January 3rd, 2005. The reception was held on Friday, December 3rd, 2004 at the museum. Carol has 15 paintings on exhibit showing works from the Wyoming and Colorado mountains, the Arizona desert and the California coastline.
Carol was recently selected as an Artist Member of the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society. She will be exhibiting three paintings in an upcoming annual Artist Member show to be held January 8th, 2005 at the Karin Newby Gallery in Tubac, AZ. There will be an opening reception and awards presentation from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the gallery with the show hanging from Saturday, January 8th to Friday, January 28th, 2005.

The exhibition opens to the public October 17th, 2004 and runs until January 9th, 2005. It will be held at the Pasadena Museum of California Art, with a Gala Reception being held at the museum October 16th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Carol’s painting “Cactus Shadows” has been accepted into the 2004 Arts for the Parks “Top Mini 100.” She also has another painting in the “Top 200”. The event will be held September 19th to the 23rd, 2004 with the banquet being held September 18th at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park.
For the 4th consecutive year, Carol has been invited to participate in the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival. The Festival’s 10th Annual Quick Draw Sale & Auction will be held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on September 18th, 2004 beginning at 10:00 am. The auction of quick draw pieces will be held at 11:30 am at the Jackson Town Square.
Finally, Carol is one of 30 invited artists to participate in “Plein Air 2005” at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona. The event begins March 3rd, 2005 at the museum. A Quick Draw will be held on Saturday March 5th and will be followed with an Awards Reception, “An Evening with Collectors & Artists” from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Artist’s can paint plein air anywhere in the Sonora Desert beginning January 3rd to March 3rd and enter their best six plein air works.
May 2004
Carol Swinney was one of five artists included in an article titled “Regional Expressions of the American Landscape” representing the Western United States in the May / June, 2004 issue of Wildlife Art News.
She has also been accepted into the 3rd annual San Luis Obispo Plein Air Painting Festival held in San Luis Obispo September 27th to October 3rd, 2004. The reception will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 6:00pm in the San Luis Obispo Art Center.
Carol recently won an Honorable Mention and a “Gallery Show Award” at the 23rd annual Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum Western Spirit Art Show and Sale held March 6th, 2004. She will be one of five artists at a month-long showing in the museum December 3rd, 2004 to January 3rd. 2005, with the reception being held on Friday, December 3rd.
Finally, Carol was asked to judge the Professional Category at the 55th annual National Art Exhibition held in Dubois, Wyoming, July 16th to the 28th, 2004. She will also do a demo along with the other two artists on Friday, July 16th at 7:00am.
March 2004
Carol’s painting “Dream Lake Reflections” just received an Honorable Mention at the Western Spirit Art Show & Sale. The show & sale is being held at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum March 6th to the 28th, 2004 .
International Artists Magazine has selected Carol to be on of 100 artists to be included in their soon-to-be-released book titled “100 Ways to Paint the Landscape.”
The Nicolaysen Art Museum, located in Casper, Wyoming, has chosen Carol to do a six day “Artist-in-Residence,” including a small showing of new works.
Finally, Carol has been invited to participate in the 1st annual Telluride Plein Air 2004 competition to be held June 29th to July 4th, 2004 in Telluride, Colorado. The exhibition and sale will be held July 3rd and 4th at the historic Sheridan Opera House with a Gala Dinner to be held on Friday, July 2nd, 2004 .
January 2004
Carol Swinney's painting "Middle Fork" will be on the cover of SkyWest Magazine for the 2004 March/April issue. Carol is also being featured in a full page profile in the 2004 May/June issue which includes the Delta Connection.
She will also be included in a feature article in the 2004 May/June issue of Wildlife Art News focusing on 5 national artists painting five different regions of the United States. Carol's work will focus on the Rocky Mountain Region.
Carol had all four of her entries accepted into the 2004 Western Spirit Art Show and Sale held at the Old West Museum in Cheyenne, Wyoming, March 6th to 28th, 2004. The reception is being held on Saturday, March 6th at the Museum.
Finally, Carol just received acceptance into the "Carmel Art Festival Plein Air 11th Annual 2004" being held in Carmel, California, May 13th to 16th, 2004. Over $20,000 in prizes and awards are being offered.
December 2003
Carol Swinney's painting "Turn of the Season" recently sold, at live auction, for $12,500.00. Proceeds of the donated painting went to cancer programs at the Wyoming Medical Center Foundation in Casper, Wyoming. Also, the #1/250 framed Limited Edition print sold for $2,000.00 at live auction.
Carol has also been invited to the 2004 Settler's West Miniature Show in Tucson, Arizona with the reception held from 5 to 9 on February 14th, 2004 at Settler's West Gallery. On February 28th, 2004 she will be participating in a Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painter's Signature Member and Invited Artist Show at La Mariposa Resort in Tucson.
October 2003
Carol Swinney is one of 40 artists invited to participate in LaQuinta Arts Foundations Desert Plein Air 2004 held in partnership with the Bob Hope Chrysler Pro Golf Classic held January 18-25, 2004. The event will be held in the Coachella Valley, Desert Hot Springs and Palm Springs areas of Southern California with the reception held Friday, January 24th, 2004.
Carol also will be featured in the November/December 2003 issue of Art Talk under "Artist Worth Watching".
Carol was one of the top selling "Quick Draw" artists at the 2003 Fall Arts Festival in Jackson, Wyoming with a total of 7 paintings sold during the 8 day event.
