Equipment:

  • Juliane French Easel (Or similar type of easel that allows you to stand while painting and have your palette on a support in front of you and below your canvas. This is important in knife painting. )

  • ¼” Glass palette cut approximately l2” X l6” (I only use glass as it's durable while working with knives and paint scrapers. Wood can also be used.)

  • Roll of paper towels, no paint rags

  • 22 – 24” Bungee cord (to hold paper towels below easel)

  • Painting umbrella

  • Apron

  • Plastic grocery bag with handles for soiled paper towels

  • Canvas: A good grade canvas, tightly stretched with a medium tooth; 14” x 11”, 12" x 16", or 14" x 18" or similar sizes. (I don't recommend Fredrix Red Label anymore as most are not properly stretched.)

  • Paint scraper

  • Drawing pencil: I use Col-erase Brand in brown as it erases easily on most canvases and a Kneaded eraser (No charcoal or conte pencils.)
